Welcome to the Brand New Blog!

Welcome to the Brand New Blog!

Thank you for visiting my brand-new blog! I’m so glad you are here! After taking a break from writing for a few years, I’ve decided it’s time to dive back into blogging. I’m excited to do that here at The Homemade Mama.

So, what do you need to know?

My name is Shani and I am The Homemade Mama!

I am a homemaker, aspiring homesteader, and homeschooling mama to my four feral children. (Ok, they aren’t really that feral, but they are a little wild and free.) I am passionate about learning all the things and love to share that passion with others.

Our family recently built and moved into our new home on a few acres in Northwest Florida right down the road from where my husband grew up. Having grown up in a busy tourist area, I am loving the slowed-down pace of country life. There always seems to be enough time and I never feel rushed. Since moving in, we have started a couple of gardens and our laying flock (we are days away from eggs). This is just the beginning for our little slice of country and I’m excited to share the journey with you.

What can you expect from The Homemade Mama?

The Homemade Mama is about more than just culinary arts, it is about a whole homemade mindset. But we will still explore a variety of kitchen topics together, like bread baking, home preservation methods, growing your own food, researching and understanding where your food comes from, and how to make the most of what you have in your pantry.

The fun doesn’t stop there! We will also talk about how to start a garden, how to keep your garden growing through season changes, and how to use or gift, or sell your produce. We will learn how to sew, make reusable household products, and rely less on store-bought items.

As our homestead grows and we add more infrastructure and animals (I hope!), we will share our experiences and the lessons we learn, so you can learn too. Through all of our endeavors here at The Homemade Mama, I hope to inspire you to live a simpler life, one day at a time.

Do you still want more?

Don’t forget to check out my About page to learn more about who we are and why we are here and feel free to send me a message through my contact form. (I promise to not spam your email.) Don’t forget to find me on Facebook and Instagram for more daily content!

For my local folks, I am working on opening a shop for some of my handmade products. These include homemade bread, sourdough starter, ready-to-make mixes, handmade beauty products, as well as digital files (in the future). Be on the lookout for the shop launch.

Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to seeing you here again real soon!

Until next time, keep it simple, keep it homemade.
