How to Make the Easiest Homemade Ranch Mix

How to Make the Easiest Homemade Ranch Mix

Store bought ranch mix is a classic, but is full of unnecessary and unhealthy chemicals. Why not make it yourself! This recipe is so simple, you will wonder why you didn’t try it sooner. Homemade Ranch Mix is the way to go!

The base ingredient you will need is dry buttermilk. I searched around for the best prices and settled on Azure Standard. I purchased mine in a 5lb bag. If you are interested in learning more about Azure Standard and how you can save money by purchasing foods in bulk, check out my link. We have used them for years and love their products. Their customer service is always fantastic as well. If you aren’t interested in bulk ordering, Amazon has some wonderful options as well. I’m not sure what stores have on their shelves, but according to Walmart Grocery Pickup, my local Walmart carries this product. But overall, the best price I found was through Azure Standard.

Once you have your buttermilk powder, it’s time to decide on the spices. Everyone’s preference on flavor will differ, so you may want to play with the recipe until you find the combination you like. The Hidden Valley copycat recipes call for the following spices:

  • dried parsley
  • dry dill
  • dried chives
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • sea salt
  • ground pepper

The version I made is slightly different, but feel free to use similar measurements and make substitutions based on your preferred flavor.

When it comes to making your dip or dressing with the dried mix, simply combine 1 tablespoon mix with milk and sour cream. Some will substitute greek yogurt, but I think sour cream tastes better. For dressing 1/2 cup sour cream and 1/2 cup milk. For dip 1 cup sour cream or 1/2 cup sour cream and 1/2 cup mayonnaise.

Now, let’s get to it!
